Evans County is a community steeped in rich history and pride. Located at the intersection of two major five-lane US highways (US 301 & US 280), Claxton, the County Seat, is known as "The Fruitcake Capital of the World." With easy access to Interstate 16 just forty miles west of Savannah, Evans County offers a welcoming business climate.
Businesses flourish here and we’re proud that many have been around for more than 50 years, including Claxton Poultry and two fruitcake bakeries. Evans County is also home to Pinewood Christian Academy, which draws students from eleven counties, and Ogeechee Technical College’s Law Enforcement Academy and Commercial Truck Driving School.
