Our Plan of Action
The Economic Development Authority of Claxton & Evans County works to increase the economic opportunities within Evans County and our region. We promote the development of our community's economic assets. We work to attract new industry and support existing business to generate new investment and create jobs. We utilize our partnerships on the state and local level to promote Evans County, to support our businesses, and improve the overall quality of life in Evans County. Our four primary focuses of success are as follows:
Business Retention & Expansion
We support our existing industries. It’s estimated that 65 – 70% of new jobs are created by existing businesses. Our mission is to meet with our existing industries each year to learn about their challenges and opportunities. With our state and local partners, we can provide connections, information, services, and solutions to support our local businesses and encourage growth. We can provide assistance with financing, workforce development, infrastructure development, and international business.

We recruit new industry to the Evans County community. Communities from all over the country are evaluated for factors including location, industrial property, infrastructure, workforce, education, and quality of life. We make connections with project managers, site consultants, and key industry contacts to promote Evans County as a great place for industry. We also work with our local leaders to develop competitive incentive packages and streamline community services for our prospects.

Community Development is a process and a result of true community partnership. The Economic Development Authority will lead in uniting all parties of our community in order to be competitive in seeking economic development. We partner with all of our city and county governments and agencies to promote the development of our community’s assets, to work together to create a bright future for all of the citizens of Evans County.

Retail recruitment and development is a key component to the EDA's focus. We feel retail is an essential part of our local economy. The choices available impact how our citizens live, work, and play and the tax revenues generated support basic community services. We work to recruit new retail, restaurants, and hotels to the Evans County community by analyzing our community’s needs, identifying available properties, and making strategic business connections.
