Georgia Power purchased the 40,000 square foot spec building, which was built in 1990, and 28 acres of land along Industrial Drive in the Claxton-Evans Industrial Park. Georgia Power will use this as a lay down yard and assembly point for their transmission projects, as well as a staging area should there be severe weather in the Southeastern region.
We, at the Economic Development Authority, are very excited about the sale of the spec building and about Georgia Power having a base in our community’s industrial park. It’s a great way to start the ball rolling for economic development in our community. We feel really energized and we are looking forward to working on new projects in Claxton and Evans County to enhance the community.
